Installing Windows

If you are installing Windows to a laptop, be certain it is plugged in throughout this process.


1. Run the installer using the media of your choice.

2. Select your language, time zone, and keyboard layout, then click Next

3. Click Install Now

4. If you have a product key, enter it.  If you don't, click I don't have a product key.

5. Choose Windows 11 Pro, then click Next

6. Click I Accept, then click Next

7. Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)"

8. If there are any partitions listed here, delete them.  Choose Unallocated Space and click Next

9. You will see this screen.  Wait while Windows installs. Your computer will reboot when the process is complete.

10. During this reboot, Windows will continue installing components. The process may take between 10 to 30 minutes or longer. Be patient and do not reboot your computer.

11. Select your country or region and click Yes

12. Select your preferred keyboard layout. Click Yes

13. If you need an additional keyboard layout, you can include it now, or click Skip

14. The installer will now check for updates.

15. Give your computer a name that is succinct, but descriptive.  Click Next

Your computer will reboot again.

16. Choose Set up for work or school.  Click Next

17. Click Sign-in options.

18. Click Domain join instead

19. Enter the name of the user who will be using this workstation, then click Next

20. Create a strong, memorable password and click Next

21. Confirm your password and click Next 

 

22. Answer three security questions to help recover access if you forget your password.
Click Next

23. Leave the default privacy settings and click Accept

24. You will now see a series of setup screens similar to below.
