03.13 - Scoping Topics: Can you do a test/preview migration?
Sometimes firms are interested in having a test/preview migration done so they can get a sense of what the data in their new system will look like.
Preview Migrations
In a preview migration, you are transferring a limited number of records from the source system to the destination. Generally this is just a handful of clients and matters and all the documents associated with them. Most consultants charge $4-6k for a preview migration.
Test Migrations
A test migration is a complete, full migration of everything. It is done exactly the same way as a final migration except the client has the expectation that the data will be thrown away afterward they review it. Junior consultants tend to include test migrations as part of the projects they do; senior consultants tend to charge an additional 50% for the project.
