Attaching a VHD

  1. Open Computer Management
    Search for Computer Management in the Start Menu.

  2. Open Disk Management
    In the left panel, expand Storage and click on Disk Management.

  3. Attach the VHD
    In the menu bar, click ActionAttach VHD.

  4. Browse for the VHD or VHDX File
    Click Browse, and locate the .vhdx file you want to mount.
    (Optional but recommended): Check the box “Read-only” to avoid accidental changes or deletions.

  5. once you locate the .vhdx file, click Open

  6. Click OK to Mount the Drive

  7. If you get this message just click Ok

  8. The virtual hard drive will mount
    Open File Explorer and navigate to This PC
    You’ll see a new drive letter has been added. In the example below, the F: drive has appeared.

  9. Access the Encrypted Contents
    Double-click the new drive (e.g., F:).
    Enter the password when prompted
    Click Unlock to access the contents
