How to Move a Virtual Hard Drive
This article will walk you through the process of moving a virtual hard drive (VHD or VHDX) from one location to another. Whether you need to free up space on your host machine or relocate a VM to a different storage drive, these steps will guide you through the process.
- Open Hyper-V Manager
 1. Right-click the VM using the hard drive you want to move.
 2. Right-click on the VM
 3. Select Move
 
-  Choose  Move the virtual machine’s storage
 - Click  Next
- Choose the Storage Location to Move - Select  Move only the virtual hard disks- Click  Next
- Select the Virtual Hard Drive(s) to Move - Select the specific VHD or VHDX file you want to move, in this example we will move the DATA virtual hard disk. - Click  Next
- Click  Browse-  to select the  new location-  for the virtual hard drive - Click  Next
- Review-  the  Summary-  page to confirm your selections - Click  Finish
