Safely Moving Files to Another Drive with Unstoppable Copier

Warning
Do not use the built-in Windows Copy/Move feature to mass transfer data from one drive to another.

Sometimes you need to mass-transfer data from one hard drive to another.
For example, you might need to complete the following move:
Source Folder
Destination Folder
C:\__MIGRATIONS\SmithLaw.com\
Z:\__Migrations\SmithLaw.com\

These instructions will help you safely perform that transfer in a way that is optimized for Universal Migrator.

At a high level, this process involves the following steps:
  1. COPY data from the source folder to the destination folder
    1. Make sure that all file attributes are preserved (especially Created At / Modified At)
  2. DELETE data from the source folder
For this process, Unstoppable Copier will be used.  This is a great program as it is not affected by popups that can often interrupt/pause transfers.

Copying Files to Another Drive

First, launch Unstoppable Copier and provide the Source and Target folders:

Then click on Settings and make sure your settings exactly match what is shown here:
(You may optionally check the Enable Log File box and specify a log file.)

Then go back to the Copy tab and click Copy:

Unstoppable Copier will begin copying data from one location to another.

Once the transfer is complete, ensure that all files were successfully copied by unchecking Copied Files:

This will filter the log to only show files that were unable to be copied.
If there were any issues, resolve those issues.

Once the issues are resolved, you may safely use your favorite method to delete the source folder.
