Enabling ODBC Access in FileMaker Pro


This guide walks you through how to open a database in FileMaker Pro and enable ODBC access for external connections (e.g., SQL-based integrations, reporting tools, or migrations).

  1. Open FileMaker Pro
    Launch FileMaker Pro from the Start Menu
    Click Open
  2. Select File and click Open.
  3. Browse to the location of the database file.
    Click Open
  4. Select Use Local Version
  5. Enter the credentials
  6. You will get this warning, it is fine, click OK and proceed
  7. In FileMaker Pro, go to:
     File >
         Developer >
             CLICK ON Developer Menus

  8. Now go to
    File >
         Sharing
              CLICK ON Enable ODBC/JDBC
  9. On the dialog box
    Select On
    Give access to All users
    Click OK
  10. Click Allow for any security messages you get.
